Alternative Makers Membership Agreement (Interim Version)
Version 0.1 – Interim Contract Pending Final AGB
Please note the following translation is posted here for your convenience, but the German Version constitutes the legally binding contract.
This Membership Agreement governs the contractual relationship between Alternative Makers UG and its members until the final General Terms and Conditions ("AGB") have been completed and adopted. By purchasing a membership, the member agrees to the terms below.
The finalized AGB will supplement this agreement and provide additional details regarding the operation of the makerspace. Members will be informed before the finalized AGB enters into force.
1. Contracting Parties

the person purchasing the membership ("Member").
2. Eligibility
Membership is available only to natural persons who are at least 18 years old.
3. Memberships
Alternative Makers currently offers the following memberships:
Spontaneous Membership – €9/month (incl. VAT)
Access to the makerspace
Community events
Free machine training
No machine usage credits
No complimentary machine reservations
Serious Maker Membership – €35/month (incl. VAT)
500 machine credits per month
One complimentary machine reservation per day
Pro Maker Membership – €65/month (incl. VAT)
1,500 machine credits per month
Two complimentary machine reservations per day
Ultimate Maker Membership – €250/month (incl. VAT)
6,000 machine credits per month
Four complimentary machine reservations per day
All memberships include access to the makerspace, community events and machine training. Access to machines requiring certification is only granted after successful completion of the relevant training.
Storage space may be rented separately, subject to availability and additional fees.
4. Machine Credits and Reservations
Machine usage may consume Credits. Each machine has its own Credit rate, which may change over time due to operational costs such as electricity, maintenance or consumables.
The current Credit rates are published on Alternative Makers' website and displayed on or near the relevant machine.
Unused Credits expire automatically at the end of each billing month and do not roll over.
Complimentary reservations are granted according to the Member's subscription tier. Reservation durations depend on the machine being reserved.
Reservations that are not cancelled or used may incur a €5 no-show fee.
5. Payment
Memberships are purchased online via SEPA Direct Debit.
The first payment is due when the membership is purchased. Subsequent membership fees are collected at the beginning of each calendar month.
Credits are renewed at the beginning of each calendar month.
If a payment cannot be collected, access to the makerspace may be suspended immediately until the outstanding amount has been paid and Alternative Makers has confirmed receipt of payment.
6. Duration, Renewal and Cancellation
Memberships have no minimum commitment period.
Memberships renew automatically on the first day of each month unless cancelled by email at least fourteen (14) days before the next renewal date.
Members may change to another membership tier through the online member portal. Changes take effect on the next billing cycle.
7. Access
During the Early Access phase, members may access the makerspace from 09:00 to 20:00, Wednesday through Monday. The makerspace is closed on Tuesdays.
After the Early Access phase, Alternative Makers intends to provide 24/7 access. Alternative Makers may reasonably adjust opening hours where operationally necessary.
Members receive a personal access device. Access credentials are personal and may not be shared.
8. Training and Safe Use
Successful completion of training is mandatory before using designated machines, including the CNC router and laser cutter.
Alternative Makers determines whether a Member has successfully completed the required training.
Machine certifications are linked to the Member's active membership. If a membership ends and a new membership is later purchased, required training must be completed again.
Alternative Makers may suspend or revoke machine certifications where necessary for safety reasons or in cases of serious misconduct.
Members must follow all safety instructions, staff instructions and published machine procedures.
9. Member Responsibilities
Members agree to:
behave respectfully toward other members, visitors and staff;
contribute to an inclusive, welcoming and discrimination-free community;
comply with all safety requirements and operational instructions;
use equipment responsibly and only within the scope of their training;
maintain valid personal liability insurance (Haftpflichtversicherung) throughout their membership.
Guests are welcome but may not operate any machines.
10. Liability
Members are responsible for damage caused through negligent or intentional misuse of equipment.
Damage resulting from normal and proper use of equipment remains the responsibility of Alternative Makers.
Members are responsible for damage they cause to another Member's property.
Alternative Makers is not responsible for materials, projects or personal belongings left unattended or stored outside rented locked storage.
11. Suspension and Termination
Alternative Makers may suspend access or terminate a membership with immediate effect in cases including, but not limited to:
failed payment;
dangerous behaviour;
repeated or serious safety violations;
discrimination or harassment;
illegal activities;
intentional damage to property;
sharing access credentials.
12. Operational Rules
Alternative Makers may reasonably update operational matters including:
machine Credit rates;
reservation rules;
opening hours;
available equipment;
membership benefits;
safety procedures;
house rules.
Members will be informed of such changes through the member portal.
If a significant contractual change is announced less than fourteen (14) days before the next renewal date, Members may terminate their membership before that renewal takes effect.
13. Communication
Contractual communications are made by email and through the member portal.
Members are responsible for keeping their contact information up to date.
14. Interim Nature of this Agreement
This document is intended as an interim contractual agreement while Alternative Makers finalizes its General Terms and Conditions (AGB).
The finalized AGB will replace and supplement this interim agreement. Members will be notified before the finalized AGB enters into force and will be given the opportunity to review the new terms.
By purchasing a membership, the Member confirms that they have read and accepted this Interim Membership Agreement.
